Impulse Optics is now offering LiF Optics

November 21st, 2006

Impulse Optics is now offering lithium fluoride (LiF) optics. LiF is used for windows, mirrors, and refracting components in the ultraviolet, visible, and infrared. LiF has the lowest refractive index of all common infrared materials. It also transmits ultraviolet radiation more effeciently than any other material, with a transmission range of 150 - 6000 nm.

LiF optics are used in many applications, including imaging, thermal imaging, astronomy, microlithography, x-ray monochromators, heat sink materials, laser research and for the study of fundamental properties and defects in crystals. LiF optics are available as lenses, windows, beam splitters, optical filters, wedges and prisms.

Impulse Optics Introduces Variable Attenuator / Beamsplitter

November 6th, 2006

San Diego, CA, November 7, 2006 – Impulse Optics introduces a variable attenuator / beamsplitter. The variable attenuator / beamsplitter is designed to work with lasers at a variety of wavelengths to provide an affordable and easy solution to dividing beams.

The Variable Attenuator / Beamsplitter divides an incident polarized light beam into two beams by 90°, the intensity ratio of the two beams can be continuously varied by rotating the input half-wave plate. This high-performance unit can be used as a beamsplitter in holography and precision interferometry applications and as an efficient attenuator for general laboratory applications.

The unit includes two half-wave plates set in graduation disks. The input half-wave plate is used to adjust the intensity ratio, while the output half-wave plate revolves the polarization plane of one beam to make it either parallel to the polarization of the adjacent beam or go in any other required direction.

A polarizing beamsplitting cube is built in with the following wavelength options: 532 nm, 632.8 nm, 800 nm, and 1064 nm; other wavelengths are available upon request. The device can also be used as a variable attenuator. The Variable Attenuator / Beamsplitter can be mounted on any posts.
